News ASU Freshman Claims Prize April 1, 2002 The College Store recently became a member of GotUsed, a network of college bookstores that provides access to the nation’s largest supply of used textbooks. Participation in the nationwide GotUsed sweepstakes gives students a chance to win some out-of-the-ordinary prizes. Prizes already awarded include night vision and a vibrating bed kit. The grand prize winner, to be selected in May, will choose between ten prizes that include a trip to the Running of the Bulls in Spain, a trip to Canada in search of Bigfoot and their own NYC Hotdog Cart. Larry Johnson, manager of The College Store said, “The prizes are almost unbelievable, but students do win them.” The last of this year’s monthly prize drawings was held April 1st. The winner, Johnny McDoogle, a freshman horticulture major at Arizona State, was randomly selected from thousands of registrants as the winner of a custom-made personal action figure. A 1:6 scale action figure of Johnny will be custom manufactured. He will choose the clothing – he could be a cop, soldier, football star, or even a cheerleader. McDoogle stated, “I was certain that one day I would be famous. Now at least I have my own action figure and can kind of claim to be famous.” Students that sell back their books to The College Store and register on GotUsed.com are eligible to win the monthly prizes as well as the grand prize. |
