Nebraska Book Company Acquires Feed and Read

Lincoln, NE
October 30, 2006

Nebraska Book Company, a nation-wide leader in the college bookstore and used textbook industry, announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Feed and Read, Inc. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Feed and Read, Inc., acquired from owner Richard Smith, serves Kutztown University specializing in textbooks, colligate apparel, and general school necessities. The bookstore serves Kutztown University's 9,600 students, alumni, faculty and the community.

Rob Rupe, Senior Vice President College Bookstore Division, Nebraska Book Company, said: "We are very pleased Mr. Smith selected Nebraska Book Company. Feed and Read is an excellent complement to our current network of bookstores and fits perfectly with our expansion strategy. This is a high quality, well operated store with a solid management team and strong growth potential."

Richard Smith, Owner Feed and Read, added: "Nebraska Book Company is the perfect match. Nebraska Book Company's philosophy is to allow the bookstore managers to operate as entrepreneurs and essentially manage their own small business. As a result, each store is unique and can meet the individual demands of the local student population but at the same time, the bookstore manager can leverage the resources of a larger company."

Nebraska Book Company purchased the inventory on Tuesday, October 24, 2006. The first day of operation was Wednesday, October 25.
