News Ken Jirovsky Retires from Nebraska Book Company August 17, 2006 After 43 years with Nebraska Book Company, Ken Jirovsky will retire from the company, effective September 8, 2006. During his tenure with Nebraska Book Company, Jirovsky has had a positive impact on the company and the industry. Mark Oppegard, Chief Executive Officer and President, Nebraska Book Company, said: "Ken has been a strong contributor to our companyhe has been instrumental in our overall growth and his leadership has helped pave the way for continuous change and improvement. He also been a strong voice in the industry for advocating the value of used textbooks and improved bookstore operations. Ken will be difficult to replace and we will miss his positive attitude, leadership and friendship." Jirovsky's career with Nebraska Book Company began as a college student working part-time in the Nebraska Bookstore. He became a full-time employee in 1966 and over the years held various operations and sales positions. In 1986, Jirovsky was promoted to Vice President of the Wholesale Division, and in 2001, moved into his current role as Vice President of Development. Jirovsky and his wife, Sharon, plan to enjoy spending more time with their family, including their four grandchildren, golfing, fishing, and traveling. Jirovsky is also an active volunteer in the community and plans to expand his community service efforts. In recognition of Jirovsky's retirement, the company is asking for individuals to submit letters acknowledging Jirovsky's contribution to the industry. The letters will then be bound into a book and presented to Jirovksy.
