News New Advantage Program Helps Increase the Bottom Line November 02, 2003 Nebraska Book Company (NBC) has added another outstanding program designed to strengthen independent college bookstores and help increase your bottom line. "It’s just another value-added service from Nebraska Book that bookstore managers are excited about and enables them to take advantage of NBC products and services," said Steve Bartek, Advantage Program Director. The NBC Advantage Program allows you to receive rebates of up to 15 percent on the value of textbooks sold to NBC. When bookstores commit to sell 80 percent of books every year to NBC for a specific period of time, stores receive Advantage rebates based on the length of that commitment. A three-year commitment nets a 5 percent rebate of annual sales, a four-year commitment, 7.5 percent and a five-year commitment, 10 percent. Rebates earned may be converted at 150 percent of the rebate amount to NBC Dollars, bringing the total rebate potential to 15 percent. "We want new business but at the same time we want to make sure we are taking care of the people who have been taking care of us," Bartek says. "We think bookstore managers appreciate the fact they are dealing with a wholesaler that is not pursuing their lease and wants their bookstore to succeed." Once rebates are earned, Advantage Dollars may be used to purchase WebPRISM/CampusHub, WinPRISM, PRISM and PCText systems, including support, maintenance, and training fees. The NBC dollars can also be used for Connect2One membership fees, store design consulting fees from College Store Design, or qualifying freight charges. Unused dollars will be converted back to the amount of the original rebate and can be used toward current or future NBC invoices. The program was officially launched in November 2000. Currently, more than 330 bookstores are taking part in the program. In the first six months participating bookstores earned $972,625 in NBC Dollars.
