News Veterans Honored at Lincoln, Nebraska The Nebraska Bookstore is pleased to announce 540 tickets were awarded tickets to 270 veterans (and a guest) to attend Saturday's Nebraska vs. Colorado basketball game at Devaney Sports Center through its "Tickets for Veterans" program. "We can't thank veterans enough for all the sacrifices they have made, and continue to make on our behalf," says Barry Major, chief operating officer of Nebraska Book Company. "While this is a small way to thank our veterans, we hope the message of our appreciation is as loud as a fan-filled Devaney Sports Centerand then some," says Major. In all, a total of 473 veterans registered for tickets. Each veteran who registered, but did not win a ticket received a T-shirt from the Nebraska Bookstore. Major says the 'Tickets for Veterans' program would not have been successful without the support of other local businesses. For example, Omaha Steaks jumped at the chance to feed the veterans on game day, Barnhart Press printed the supporting materials, and American National Bank of Omaha sponsored ball caps for the winning veterans. "All of these efforts truly underscore the spirit behind this celebration," says Major. "Their contributions and desire to make this program as successful as possible is sincerely appreciated."
