News Nebraska Book Company Receives Lincoln, Nebraska
Nebraska Book Company is proud to announce that the company was awarded the Distinguished Service Award Civilian by the Nebraska National Guard Association in recognition the company's Tickets for Veterans program. The Distinguished Service Award Civilian recognizes and rewards individuals or groups of individuals for achievements and suggestions contributing to the efficiency, economy, or other improvements of government operations that exceed normal job performance requirements as well as those who perform outstanding special acts or services in the public interest in connection with official employment. Major Craig Strong, 110th Medical Battalion, Nebraska National Guard, said in his nomination of Nebraska Book Company: "This unique program is truly a heartfelt expression of support of our military that is deeply appreciated by all members of the Nebraska National Guard. Because the patriotic performance of the Nebraska Book Company is outstanding and it clearly promotes the general welfare of the Soldiers and Airmen of the Nebraska National Guard, the Nebraska Book Company is fully deserving of the Distinguished Service Award - Civilian." Nebraska Book Company’s annual Tickets for Veterans program is one small way for the company to recognize and thank those that have served, and continue to serve, our country. The Tickets for Veterans program provides tickets, free-of-charge, to an annual University of Nebraska sporting event. Last year, veterans were given tickets to the Nebraska/Kansas State football game and this year, they were provided tickets to the Nebraska/Colorado basketball game. The program is currently in its second year. Mark Oppegard, President and Chief Executive Officer, said: "This is one of the highest honors we could have received and we are truly proud to accept the award. Our Tickets for Veterans program is our way to say thank you to the many Nebraska veterans. We never expected to be honored for doing something to support the men and women who serve our country." |
