Investing in Employees through Wellness Program
Nebraska Book Company is pleased to announce an exciting new wellness benefit for employees and their spouses, SimplyWell. This state-of-the-art program based in Omaha, Nebraska, features a variety of tools and resources designed to help people lead a healthier lifestyle, and in turn, help control rising healthcare costs.
Mark Oppegard, President and Chief Executive Officer, Nebraska Book Company, said: "With a rapidly growing company like ours, keeping great people is vital to our competitive advantage and our vision of becoming an employer of choice. We believe adding a wellness benefit to our overall compensation package is important for our more than 4,000 employees. We value our employees and want to do all that we can to help promote healthy lifestyles."
The SimplyWell program provides participants with a mini-physical that is then partnered with an online health questionnaire (completed by each participant) to develop a customized individual wellness plan. The participants are also involved in education modules and health tracking and are encouraged to visit the doctor annually for regular check-ups.
Nebraska Book Company offers the program free-of-charge for employees and their spouses if the employee participates in the company's health care plan. In addition, employees receive a further incentive to participate through reduced healthcare premiums. In fact, employees that participate in the wellness program will pay less for their healthcare premiums than they did in 2005.
Michael Demman, Chief Executive Officer, SimplyWell, said: "The most valuable benefit of the new program is the opportunity for participants to improve their overall health and wellness. We applaud Nebraska Book Company for proactively working to support employees and encouraging healthy lifestyles."
